Developing Crystalline Glazes
Description
Create crystalline glazes on your wheel thrown pottery. This workshop will focus on techniques, process, formulating and firing of cone 10 crystalline glazes. Participants will be provided 2 glaze recipes to experiment on the wheel thrown test tiles then afterwards formulate a glaze to fire 2 pieces of pottery of their choice.
Workshop dates:
April 10 - Demo and introduction to the crystalline glazes and the process. Participants will be throwing test tiles, two pieces and catch basins.
April 17 - Introduction to two crystalline glazes, ingredients and firing schedules. Demonstration on the glaze application and techniques. Participants will be mixing the glazes, then glazing the test tiles.
April 24 -Introduction to firing schedules, loading and programming the kiln. Participants will be mixing glazes and glazing their wheel thrown pieces.
May 15 - Demonstration on removing the catch basins and critique.
Workshop time is 6-8 pm.
