Learning the Business of Art Bead by Bead teaches every aspect of becoming, and sustaining a career as, a working artist; from creating and photographing, to selling and shipping completed work. All aspects of the daily operations are taught to and carried out by program participants. Community connections are built by working with local businesses to arrange pop-up sales and in-store retail opportunities, for which inventory monitoring and interpersonal business skills are heavily emphasized. |
Bead by Bead Community Collaborations Bead by Bead is a community-based art program that offers free workshops to the public. Initially welcoming young artists from the local immigrant and refugee community, the program is now open to all area youth from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities. In this program, participants learn entrepreneurial skills, as well as ceramics and jewelry-making techniques. This program provides opportunities for young creatives to connect with, and build relationships in, their community while learning transferrable skills and creating a source of income through the arts.
