Artist Statement
Upon the artists’ return to CNY, Kelsey continues a line of exploration behind the history of making, craft, and industry, this was made possible by CNY Arts funding. This show is an exploration specifically into CNY, focusing on the makers unique to the area. This topic is of specific interest to Kelsey. She was born into a family of makers. Her most
important mentor, being her father. He began teaching Kelsey woodworking skills as a child. The displayed sculptures are made of a mix of relevant industry materials, comprised of recycled materials and materials from the places researched. Individual pieces are site-specific to areas or people of the region, such as the Waterbury Felt Mill,
Syracuse China and Meyda Glass.
