Ages 12-16
"Learn how to approach making a collage based on an introduction to composition, artistic intuition, and material. There will be a focus on embracing the freedom of a non-traditional shape. Students will learn how to create their collage using 3 elements; fragments made from scratch, found imagery based on their artistic intuition, and collected objects (one meaningful object brought from home). By combining color, shape, dimension, and texture, students will understand how to curate personal narrative and meaning into their final collage."
Special Directions:
Students must bring one personal object to attach to their collage! Can be anything, as long as it is something they have a connection to.
Examples: An old toy, a piece of fabric (perhaps a piece of clothing, or something they found that they liked), a piece of jewelry, a cord, a page of a book. Anything that helps tell their story that can become art.
