Anthony Mancini (1926–1977) was a Utica-based artist, educator, and influential figure in the Mohawk Valley art community. Born in Utica in 1926, he studied art extensively after serving in Italy during World War II, attending schools including the University of Fine Art in Florence, Munson-Williams-Proctor School of Art, the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts, and later earning both a B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Syracuse University, where he studied under Josef Albers.
Known for a lifelong fascination with cubism and modernist design, Mancini produced thousands of paintings and drawings throughout his career. As both an artist and teacher, he had a lasting impact on generations of local artists through his work and teaching studio on Genesee Street in Utica. His artwork was exhibited throughout the Northeast, as well as internationally in Italy, helping establish him as an important voice in Central New York’s artistic legacy.
